I was recently asked a question about whether it is important for IT project managers to hold the PMP certification. More specifically, are great project management skills correlated with PMP certification?

Just caught a glimpse of this article by Erin Griffiths of AdWeek, which was published on August 9th. Take a look and come on back for some of my thoughts:

Here's a great article by Barb Mosher over at where she presents the case for Adobe as a potential power-player in the customer experience management space. To read Barb's article, simply click here.

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog about how some of my best CIO/CTO customers have been asking me how they measure up to their peers in the industry. At that time I wrote one observation was that their IT departments 'played position ball,' or had great role definition. Here's a second observation I've noticed that all of my best customers share:

I just held a fairly brief and concise staff meeting that could only be described as a pep talk on Innovation. Over the years I have learned that you can't repeat enough times the core mission of your organization to your staff, to your customers, to prospects, to partners, and to the public. We all get lost in the daily tactical work that we do such that we sometimes forget the touchstone of our reason for living, which is to create that which never existed before.

Here's a link to an article written by Cristina Adams over at Profile Magazine about DPCI. I've met a great many writers in my day - both as customers of DPCI's as well as having been interviewed by them for different pieces. Cristina is the first such writer to really 'get' us.

Not including my childhood playing with computers both at home as well as at my father's company (my dad had a tech company in the 70's and 80's), I have been working in IT for over 25 years now. I've been President of DPCI for over 12 years, and have had the opportunity to help a great many companies reach their goals around content technology strategy and implementations.

A little more than three years ago I spoke with Tina Gasperson, then an IT journalist with, about the need for open source projects to 'snap together.' Specifically, with respect to content technologies, the sheer bulk of functionality and use cases associated with creating, enriching, managing, and delivering any type of content to any channel (Web, print, mobile, tablet, other) is too vast for any single open source project to handle.
