New York University Retains DPCI To Implement a Standard Web Content Management System

New System Addresses the Need to Standardize All Department Websites by Providing a Suite of Templates and Browser-Based Tools Without Requiring HTML Programming

New York, NY - July 20, 2008 - DPCI, a provider of integrated technology solutions for organizations that need to publish content to Web, print, and mobile channels, today announced that it successfully designed and implemented a new Web-based publishing platform for New York University's (NYU) Langone Medical Center. Utilizing the Drupal Web content management system, DPCI provided NYU Langone Medical Center with a standardized platform to enable individual departments to design and roll out customized Websites without requiring knowledge of HTML programming. The new user-friendly platform - called "Libra" by the Medical Center staff -- is available to support more than 200 departments within the NYU Langone Medical Center.

NYU Langone Medical Center is one of the nation's premier centers of excellence in health care, scientific research, and medical education. Given the needs of each department to publish and promote their respective work, DPCI collaborated with the Web Services Group of NYU Langone Medical Center to create a series of templates that can be easily customized based on their own unique needs. Each Website can be configured with a range of content elements and modules, including a front page slide show to display images and photos, calendar, and a content import feature that integrates feeds from third-party systems such as EBSCO. Additionally, DPCI integrated the Drupal-based system with an existing faculty management application to dynamically publish biography information on the Website.

DPCI customized Drupal to allow users to take full advantage of these modules, and publish content via a browser-based interface, requiring no knowledge of HTML or other programming languages. By creating this user-friendly publishing platform, DPCI enables NYU Langone Medical Center to accelerate the design process by giving the content owners the tools and flexibility to maintain their own Websites.

"NYU Langone Medical Center is made up hundreds of departments and institutions which all have their specific needs to either launch or maintain their respective Websites," said Michael Mainiero, Director of Web Services for New York University Langone Medical Center. "Utilizing Drupal, they now have the ability to create content and update their Websites utilizing a range of easy-to-use modules, eliminating my team's involvement."

"Our customization to this open source platform provides an extremely user-friendly and configurable set of browser-based tools which allows NYU Langone Medical Center to deliver compelling, content-rich Websites," explained Joozer Tohfafarosh, Vice President of Technology at DPCI. "This new system will give every department at NYU Langone Medical Center the ability to build upon a standardized platform, and utilize their Website to communicate their work with their varied audiences."
