New York, NY - April 23, 2006 - The Philadelphia City Paper, the largest weekly newspaper in Philadelphia, has chosen DPCI to implement WoodWing Softwares industry-leading SmartConnection Enterprise as its new editorial production system.
Founded in November, 1981, Philadelphia City Paper has the largest readership of any weekly in Philadelphia and has won numerous awards for content as well as newspaper management. City Paper was looking for a robust, flexible, editorial workflow solution that would replace QPS, the companys legacy system.
SmartConnections intuitive end user tools and its easy-to-use administrative interface allow Philadelphia City Paper to quickly create new print workflows based on the needs of the various publications.
DPCI, a member of the Association for Alternative Newsweeklies, has been studying the needs of the alternative newsweekly over the past few years and has developed a best-of-breed approach to delivering improved workflow solutions with enhanced flexibility.
Typically, the alternative weekly culture thrives on a can-do attitude, where a small number of editorial and production staffers turn out a significant number of pages, often across several markets, stated Joe Bachana, President of DPCI. What this segment of the publishing market has been asking for is a powerful yet simple user interface that will limit the costs of training and support. Concurrently, the publishers are looking for ways to put out different products in different markets, so the editorial system must be easily and quickly customizable. With SmartConnection, City Paper picked itself a winner.
WoodWing USA CEO Brian Kruger thanked DPCI for its continued success with SmartConnection Enterprise. DPCIs expertise in publishing and knowledge of the unique challenges of newsweeklies made them a perfect partner to manage the SmartConnection rollout for City Paper, Kruger said. Were excited to have Philadelphia City Paper as our newest client and applaud DPCIs continued work with alternative newsweeklies.
